Shanghai in the 1950s was a microcosm of contemporary Chinese society. Amid the impact of capitalism, Western culture, and political turbulence, people strived to move forward in a rapidly changing environment. Despite pressure and conflict, they remained true to their original aspirations, choosing kindness and resilience, and facing life with optimism through friendship, family, and love. Learning is for serving society in the future, and work is for realizing ideals—caring for farmers, supporting disadvantaged groups, and creating new value for rural communities.
